Back from Atlanta with much news to share- however, my photos have gone missing in the ether between my camera and computer. I'm hoping to recover them and blog with photos later this week. Until then here is some better late then never amazing press from the LA Times on Saturday featuring Felt Club.

Felt Club featured in LA Times story!

There is a pretty weird paraphrased quote by me a few paragraphs in (phone interviews will always bite you in the butt.) It is fantastic press for organizer Jenny Ryan and the Los Angeles craft community!!! Read the entire article HERE.

Pretty hyped about this review in Nylon that just came out. Pretty bummed that I am going to save a copy of a magazine with Paris Hilton on the cover.

Nylon Magazine Review: November 2008
Last night was the official book release party in Milwaukee and it was a huge success! Thanks to everyone who came out and picked up a copy. We would also like to say a big thanks to Cafe Lulu and our sponsor Lake Front Brewery for their support as well as Chris Schulist who played an awful lot of sick jams. Thanks to the ladies who drove from Chicago as well!!!!

Today my interview for Milwaukee Public Radio was on Lake Effect. A big thanks A BIG thanks to Paul over at Lake Effect for doing the interview which aired this morning on WUWM, you can listen to it HERE.

I also received my issue of Craft: 09 in the mail that has the very first article I've written for a magazine in it.

Craft: 09

I wrote about Cream City Ribbon, a local (Milwaukee) company that makes cotton ribbon for the "Green Craft" section. Photographer Kevin Miyazaki (who also happens to be the photographer that took my pictures a few weeks back for my feature in Readymade Magazine) took the beautiful photos that accompany the piece.

Some updates....

I just received my advance copy of Betsy Greer's new book Knitting For Good in the mail this week. It's so awesome. I read it a bit back, but holding your friends finished book in your hands makes you feel so proud, especially when the books message is so empowering and positive. I'm also excited because on the back there is my very first printed endorsement, so very official!

Yesterday Cortney and I spent the day at the Midwest Express Convention Center at the Fine Furnishings & Fine Craft Show. It was a strange experience since it was a really straight forward show. The organizer Karla had read my article in the NY Times and invited us to be a part of the program which was really nice. Both Cortney and I brought sewing projects and mostly just chatted with each other. We did meet a handful of nice folks and sold a few copies of the book too.

Finally posted a few photos from Renegade Chicago a few weeks ago. It was so rainy that I didn't take that many pictures on Saturday. Sunday we ended up not setting up, just couldn't risk getting all the books damp and moldy.....

Micaela O'Herlihy is the Director of Photography for Handmade Nation. She is an amazing woman; artist, filmmaker, mother of two. Her son Thurman who is 9 recently had his second art opening and Mark Escribano was there to document it. He shot some fantastic footage and recently put a short up on youtube, if you watch it, make sure you get to the end. Stills I shot from the party are HERE.
